Mid 70’s, the sun was out and smiling as bright as it ever been. It was my first day behind the wheel by myself. I was excited as I had just came back from White Marsh Mall. With a bag of clothes by my side, windows down, my favorite music blasting and the wind running across my face. In late summer of 2007, things could not have been better.
Going down route 47, coming to Eastern Blvd to go home, I was 5 minutes from home when I noticed a brown blob coming to my side. THUMP and a shove to the side was what I felt. I was so surprised, I looked back at the mirror and I could not believe it. There was not one, but two deers!. Blood flowing rapidly through my body, I had no intention to pull over and look at my car. Continuing to drive and being nervous to check the damage while at the same time so excited to see if it was anything significant.
I arrive at my driveway, pulling up slower than usual. I got out of the car, took a deep breath and looked at my rear side panel. OMFG was all that ran through my head. There were 2 big dents near my gas tank cover. What were the chances of 2 deers out at 3 in the afternoon? This was horrible. I was nervous on what my parents were going to say, especially since it was in my first day of driving and also my car at the time was new.
I slowly walked up to the door, took a even deeper breath and walked in.

I like the slow build up to your ridiculous day. Calm and happy to bamp, not so good. The only issue seen was that your point wasn't so clear to the audience!
ReplyDeleteI like it too that you seem to be following a perfect day, and then everything just comes to a screeching halt when the deer hit your car. However, I also agree with Sam that it's hard to see where your point comes from in the story.
ReplyDeleteI love the story and actually see where the point comes from. You would not think two deers would hit you especially when it's the first time you drove with a new car. I don't know what you need to do to make it better. I can totally imagine this in my head.
